Dental Implants

If you desire a natural-looking solution to a missing front tooth, Huntsville dentist Dr. Jayashree Srinivasan is trained in placing dental implants. She did her residency at the University of Michigan under dental implant expert Dr. Dennis Tarnow, and has experience with implant restoration, bone grafting cases, mini-implants, and snap-on dentures.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a natural-looking and natural-feeling artificial tooth that is placed into the jaw to replace a missing tooth or teeth. There are two parts to an implant procedure: 1) a metal form is placed into the jaw bone and the bone then grows around it; 2) once the root form has healed a crown is placed on top.

If you are missing all of your natural teeth, implants can also be used to stabilize a denture, eliminating most of the problems associated with removable complete dentures.

Advantages of dental implants

There are several advantages to dental implants. First, they are more comfortable than other tooth replacement options. They are also secure, preventing you from worrying about them slipping or falling out. They allow you the ability to eat anything. Lastly, they prevent facial collapse, a condition caused by your body resorbing your jawbone.

Are you a candidate for dental implants?

To be a candidate for dental implants, you must be in good overall health. Next, you should have gums and a jawbone that are healthy enough to support the implant. Finally, you should be willing to commit to a dedicated home care routine, in order to maximize the lifespan of the implant

If you are wondering if you are a candidate for dental implants, we can see you for a complimentary consultation to find out.
