Although Huntsville dentist Dr. Jayashree Srinivasan is not a pediatric dentist, she is a licensed general dentist with a love for children. She spends three Fridays a month doing volunteer pediatric dental work at the Heals Clinic, a non-profit organization that treats underserved children in Gurley, Alabama, about 20 minutes outside of Huntsville. Children are welcome at our office and Dr. Srinivasan enjoys seeing them in her practice.
What to expect at your child’s appointment
Dr. Srinivasan suggests bringing your child in for his or her first dental appointment around age three, after their baby teeth have all erupted or are close to being complete. Taking your child in for his or her first exam when they are very young and before they are likely to need any treatment will help them develop a healthy attitude toward dental care.
One of our objects for this visit is to make it fun for your child. If they are willing to accept it, we would do a light cleaning. They may enjoy trying out our air/water syringe. While visiting the office, children are given special sunglasses during their treatment. They can also watch television during cleanings, pick a toy out of the treasure chest, and pick out a toothbrush and toothpaste at the conclusion of their appointment. All of this helps the child develop a positive attitude toward dental care.
If you have questions about pediatric dentistry or are ready to make an appointment for an examination for your child, call our office or visit our request an appointment page. If you’re not ready to commit to a paid examination but would like a chance to meet Dr. Srinivasan and our staff and get a tour of our office, call and we can schedule a complimentary visit, or request an appointment online.
