Dentures
Dentures replace natural teeth that you have lost to dental disease or trauma. They can be a good tooth replacement option whether you have lost one tooth, several teeth, or all-natural teeth. You receive full dentures when you no longer have any natural teeth and partial dentures when you are missing only some of your teeth.
Dr. Srinivasan can create partial dentures for you regardless of whether your missing teeth are near each other or not. Several types of dentures are available for you to choose from, such as removable or implant-supported dentures.
Problems Caused by Missing Teeth
Living with missing teeth can have a big impact on your self-esteem, causing you to feel reluctant to smile. You must also endure several other issues, such as improper alignment of your remaining teeth, speech difficulties, and problems chewing food. Facial sagging can also occur. We recommend obtaining dentures as soon as possible after losing your teeth to avoid these issues.
Options for Full and Partial Dentures
When you come in for your initial consultation, Dr. Srinivasan will discuss the benefits and any potential drawbacks of the types of dentures briefly described below.
Full Removable Dentures
Removable dentures that replace the top and bottom rows of teeth have long been the standard in restorative dentistry. You apply denture adhesive to your gums to keep your replacement teeth in place. The top row of dentures contains a piece of hard plastic that fits securely into the roof of your mouth. You need to remove your dentures when going to sleep at night, place them in a cup of cold water, and add a denture tablet to cleanse them.
Partial Removable Dentures
Partial dentures work the same way as full dentures, except that they only replace some missing teeth. Dr. Srinivasan examines your teeth and gums, takes a mold and precise measurements, and sends this information to our laboratory. The technicians then create dentures with replacement teeth attached in the same location where you have teeth missing.
